Based in New Mills, High Peak, we work with clients locally and from across the UK who are seeking a specialist, personalised approach to footwear and orthotic solutions.

Why the name Sweetmore & Firth ?

Our Story & Passion
Sweetmore & Firth began in December 2022 in Hayfield and moved to New Mills in 2024, where we now run our workshop and fitting studio. The name reflects both heritage and vision — combining my experience as Stephanie Sweetmore with the future I’m building as Stephanie Firth.
From an early interest in footwear to deep specialist training, my journey has always been about making footwear that genuinely changes lives — not just filling shelves.
About Me - Stephanie Firth
Professional Expertise & Qualifications
I graduated from De Montfort University with a BA in Footwear Design and later completed an MA in Biomechanics and Bespoke Footwear Design.
My education was supported by funding from The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers, and my work has been recognised at industry events including the Foot Health Conference (Kettering) and the Foot & Ankle Podiatry Conference at the ACC, Liverpool.

To expand my practical skills, I’ve collaborated with experienced shoemakers in Germany, conducted research at Headley Court and Blatchford Prosthetic Unit, and worked within a diabetes clinic at Sheffield Hospital — giving me a broad foundation in both craft and clinical understanding
