Almost 31 years around the sun 🌞

As I begin my celebrations for another trip around the sun, and like my very first birthday, this day holds more meaning than just cake and candles.

30 years ago, my first birthday was also a VE Day celebration—marking victory, remembrance, and resilience. While my family toasted to my first year of life, they also honoured the countless lives that shaped our history.

Now, 31 years on, I feel deeply humbled reflecting on the weight of this day. As I celebrate life, I also pause to remember the sacrifices, the courage, and the stories that VE Day carries with it.

Sometimes, it’s not just about fixing one thing—it’s about bringing everything back to life!

A customer came in with foot pain, needing custom insoles. But when I took a look at his old boots, I knew they deserved some TLC too. After creating his custom resin cast and insoles, I took his trusty boots and gave them a fresh new sole, making sure they’re good to go for many more adventures.

Nothing beats the feeling of fixing what’s well-loved and helping someone step into comfort.

This morning, one of my customers came in for a fitting on his latest pair of shoes and surprised me with a thoughtful gift—a generous bundle of live greenery for the shop.

Why? Well, during his last visit, he was shocked to learn that all the plants here are actually plastic. I confessed to having a notorious "black thumb" when it comes to keeping anything green alive.

Thankfully, he's confident these plants are tough enough to survive even my questionable plant-care skills. Here's hoping they prove him right and outlast my usual botanical disasters!

This woman approached me with a heartfelt request: could I create a pair of sandal-style shoes for her upcoming holiday in the Caribbean, where she would be celebrating a special wedding anniversary?

We spent time together designing her dream shoes, carefully crafting a style she loved. At first, it was just a drawing, and she was unsure how the final product would turn out.

To accommodate her needs, I crafted an insole with a false forefoot, carefully matching the length and shape of her toes. When she came for the fitting, her reaction was unforgettable—her feet looked small and neat for the first time in years. Overwhelmed with emotion, she left the workshop with tears in her eyes, excited for the finished pair.

After a few final adjustments, the sandals were ready. The joy on her face when she saw them was contagious. These were more than just shoes—they were a dream come true, designed by her and brought to life for her holiday.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. To see someone transform from hiding their feet to proudly showcasing them is incredibly fulfilling.
