Sweetmore & Firth is led by Steph, a specialist orthopaedic shoemaker dedicated to combining traditional craftsmanship with modern understanding of foot health.
Every piece of footwear is created with care and precision, with the aim of improving comfort, mobility and quality of life.
Meet Steph
Nice to meet you, I’m Steph.
I’m the owner and shoemaker at Sweetmore & Firth, where I specialise in creating bespoke orthopaedic footwear.
I design and create made-to-measure shoes for individuals with foot impairments, deformities and disabilities, as well as for anyone who struggles to find comfortable, properly fitting footwear.
I also make personalised custom orthotics, which are individually designed and machine-fitted into your own shoes to provide the support and comfort you need.
I’m passionate about creating footwear that not only fits beautifully, but also helps you feel comfortable, confident and like yourself.

Steph has recently made insoles for me and my husband because we both had foot pain when walking any distance, and off-the-shelf arch supports that we wore were no longer helping.
However, with Steph's insoles the pain had gone! I decided to take my mum over to see her as she struggles to walk nowadays because of a painful fused foot. She's had NHS insoles but the ones Steph made for her are immeasurably better and now she can walk further. So that's three very happy customers.

Based in New Mills, Serving Clients across the UK and internationally. Our workshop is located in New Mills, on the edge of the Peak District. While many of our clients come from nearby areas such as Stockport, Manchester and across Derbyshire, we also regularly work with people travelling from across the UK for our bespoke orthopaedic footwear and custom orthotics.
